The history of our gîte village: Built in the 1980s to accommodate holiday camps, the estate was then managed by the commune before being bought by a private individual in 2009. We took over the reins in 2020, attracted by this exceptional site as much as by the “Village de Gîtes” concept, which allows us to work by offering happiness to families and groups!

Welcoming guests and giving them pleasure are at the heart of our project. With our passion for nature, we offer a wide range of activities for families to make the most of our green surroundings. And because a holiday also means conviviality, we love to organise barbecue evenings where laughter and socialising come together.
The previous owners were already members of the association and involved in it; we felt it was right to continue as members because the benefits the association brings us are essential: network synergy, support and regulatory services, visibility, etc. An owners’ association FOR owners– only the Villages de Gîtes association can provide that! For us, the association – particularly at the annual General Meetings – gives us the opportunity to meet new people and discuss a wide range of issues. With Villages de Gîtes, we feel less alone – there’s always someone to answer our questions.
Our business and family life don’t leave us much time to go on holiday to a Village de Gîtes! It’s the concept that appeals most to us: a small, family-run, independent holiday home. But we also appreciate the fact that each Village has its own personality, often … just like its owners!
Some Dutch people stayed for a fortnight in the Village de Gîtes de l’Etang des Portes. Happy as clams, they asked if they could stay another week, but there was no more room: there was only 1 gîte for 4 people left when there were 5. So, as they liked the peace and quiet, the nature and the swimming pool, they preferred to adapt to extend their stay, moved their stuff and managed in a 4-person gîte 😊
